An amazing work. A must have for physical therapists.

I was fortunate enough to have Dr. Oatis teach me firsthand at Arcadia University. This book is a culmination of many years of clinical and also teaching experience wrapped into one astonishing book. The beginning provides the basis of biomechanics and its principles in relation to bones, muscle, joints etc. From there, the book is divided into units looking at every anatomical complex in the body. Each unit is broken down to examine the bones and joints in the first section, followed by the mechanics and pathomechanics of muscle, and finishing with a look at the forces involved at each joint. You will go on to read about every anatomical muscle and what occurs if there is weakness, tightness or even a nerve injury. The remarkable part about this book is the fact that in every section there are numerous examples that relate to problems that are relevant to clinical practice. I highly recommend this book to all physical therapy students, practicing phyical therapists, and also to universities with physical therapy programs.

This is a great reference book and useful in solving problems and helping my clients. The illustrations are well done and very helpful. It is on my desk and open most of the time. This is a great compliment and addition to other physiology and anatomy reference books.

This text really breaks down the functions of the human body into the simplest terms possible and then regurgitates it into a language that expands upon anatomical vocabulary. Along with simple verbal explanations for almost any term that may cause confusion charts, graphs and illustrations provide the tools necessary to make a potentially difficult session easy to grasp. Once you read the first few chapters prior to class you will be hooked on the feeling of certainty that only in depth studying can provide...and all that you have to do is read a few pages.

Melbourne Smith made this happen. Melbourne is a self-invented human phenomenon with a mind equal parts mechanical exactitude and reckless enthusiasm. In youth he was an apprentice sign-maker and hyperactive mist from a drab city on the shore of Lake Ontario. He has been at various times a musician, commercial artist, book designer, sailor, painter of meticulous watercolor portraits of historical vessels, shipbuilder, nautical technician, historian, marine architect, and even, briefly, a lieutenant-commander of the Guatemalan Navy. His story includes shipwrecks, natural disasters, desperate escapes, glorious failures, but always the assumption that any person’s life is an unscripted adventure demanding unquestionable expertise. Combining mechanics and vision, Melbourne Smith shattered the amnesia of progress and reawakened the world to the great history of towering masts, fast hulls, shining sprawls of canvas, and extreme risk on the high seas.

I have always had an interest in sailing, especially in the era of the clipper ships, and have read a great many nautical themed books. However, biographies have not always been my first choice but once into the first chapter I was hooked. I felt like I was reading a mystery and could not put it down. It is such an American story, of dreams and the courage to pursue those dreams. Melbourne Smith is a rare individual, and we are shown how he grew up to be a dedicated expert at preserving history by designing, building, and actually sailing those ships of a bygone era, an era that saw the birth of America. The fact is, Melbourne Smith's story is much more than a biography, it is a fact filled book, a reference, about the grand sailing ships of old. Good but outdated overview of the OKC Bombing

This is a good overview of the Oklahoma City bombing that points out the multitudes of holes in the governments official version of what happened. The only fault this book has is that so much more has come out that even further debunks the "official" story since OKBOMB! was published. Even in the past few months new facts have surfaced that point in the direction of OKC being an "inside job" and its already been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the "offical" story is bunk.

Important Questions

Jim Keith poses many important questions that are not asked in any other publications: Were more than McVeigh and Nichols involved? What role did any right-wing patriot groups play in the Oklahoma City bombing? Where did the federal government come up with their version of events? What really took place on April 19, 1995? Keith illustrates that there are simply more questions than true answers for this issue and there is always more than one set of facts and interpretations. It is understood by law enforcement personnel that eyewitnesses most often don't make particularly good witnesses. However, Keith puts together a pretty convincing argument that there is more to the federal story than meets the eye. Regardless of that premise, and even if every witness and person that was quoted or interviewed in this book was completely wrong, these are still very crucial and important questions that need to be asked. Readers may want to supplement this work with other relevant pieces such as Stephen Jones' "Others Unknown" or "American Terrorist" by Lou Michel and Dan Herbeck.

Good but needs better indexing and charts.

A good Book, but it could have used a better glossary in order to more easily find things and some organizational charts to show how things relate to each other. I found the camera confusing with its many options and no overview of basic things, for instance camera operational modes, relate to aperture which relates to fstop, exposure modes (spot, Center, matrix, etc.), focusing modes, etc. A chart which ties this together would have been most helpful. Book just regurgitates the manual with a different slant.

Great Tool for Help with your Property and Casualty Test

This book was the most helpful tool I could fine to help me prepare for my testing. The book takes you by the hand and focus on the what, how, and issues you need for everything you need to know.

The book even taught me to pay attention to the timing of the actual test and how to be able to set my goals to finish the exam. And also, to answer all the questions whether I am sure if the answer is correct.

There was even a list of 20 tips on what to do while taking the test. I found this very helpful to me, because many of the suggestions that were brought up, I would have never thought of.

Take some pressure off youself before you take the test and make sure you purchase this book!

Getting prepared for this exam can be a challenge because there is so much to remember and so many details to go over. It can make your mind spin! But if you have this book to help you get prepared to write the exam, you’ll be in a much better position at the end of your studying. It’s a well written book that covers all the topics and information in one guide. It’s nice to not have to drag around a bunch of texts. Everything you’ll need is in this one book.

The book is cleanly formatted and well detailed. It is laid out in such a manner that it is enjoyable to read. It makes dry information interesting. The writers are experts at this test and they really know what you should focus on. That’s what makes this book so convenient. All the notes and materials are put into one simple to use spot. It’s great to help you get prepared and also you can use it for reference. It’s so easy to just go back and review a section as needed.

There’s also bonus information include to help you with time management, test strategies and exam secrets. That is extremely helpful as you get extra insights into this exam. Plus, there are practice test questions to go over which will give you a feeling for the test. Overall, this is a super helpful book and I’d highly recommend it to anyone preparing for this exam.

If you are studying for this property casualty exam, you already know that insurance and all of its details is very complicated. The good news is that this study guide lays it all out in the most simple manner possible. The guide has all of the material you need to know for the test in one organized location. It breaks the subject down into sections like insurance concepts, businessowner's insurance, liability insurance and so much more. IT also has some additional items like test taking tips and study secrets to help you out even more. Though some of the material in the guide is still complicated, it is written out in a plain language that anyone can understand. You can review everything you need to know, learn the things you missed, and remind yourself of some of the things you already knew. It's a simple, easy way to study everything you need to know in one place.
